Basin Guayas River

The geography of the route is determined by the gulf of Guayaquil, principal river and geographical ecosystem for the entire country.

The route crosses urban areas, suburban areas, small towns and rural territories with light to moderate undulations. It descends toward the southwest from the city of Guayaquil, crossing agricultural zones. These are made of numerous small farms fundamental to fruit production, namely orange, passionfruit, cherimoya, banana and pitajaya. From arrival at Posorja the route crosses to the Island of Puná within the same gulf, site of the ancient culture of the Punaes. Many dolphins are visible at this crossing. The principal activities of production on the island are fishing, agriculture (fruit), shrimping and tourism. The climate of the island is dry tropical.

Some points of the route which are selected staying overnight are: Limoncito, Posorja, Cauchiche - Estero de Boca - Bellavista - Subida alta - Campo alegre.
